Gastrointestinal testing

When a patient presents with common complaints such as abdominal pain, swallowing problems, bowel problems, bleeding, heartburn, gas or weight loss, a wide variety of causes must be considered. A precise diagnosis is critical because there are so many conditions that can present with common complaints.

Gastroenterology is one of those fields in medicine that, in many cases, can provide an exact diagnosis due to the technology available. Most serious diseases of the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine) arise from the lining (mucosa) of the organ.

Dr. Feinstein has a variety of instruments (scopes, video capsule) that can directly visualize and sample (biopsy) a potential problem. This provides precision care. In addition, many causes of various problems can be cured with certain procedures (for example, polyp removal, stopping of rectal bleeding).

Knowing how to choose the right type of testing is also essential. Genetic testing, breath testing for food intolerances, imaging (CT scan, MRI, ultrasound) and unique stool tests are some additional examples of what is used to solve a problem.

Mastering the proper use of technology and testing, combined with the understanding of the newest concepts of disease and treatment, are necessary for the best possible outcomes.

Our GI testing patients come to us from Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica and Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles County, CA.
